About Us

Clayton Communications was founded in 1976 and started business selling new and used telephones, door-to-door, on the streets of Johannesburg. With a background in electrical engineering we soon diversified into the design and installation of public address systems, intercoms, and background music. The 1980’s saw major retailers everywhere recognizing the importance of streamlined communication and creating an audio-environment to optimize the customer experience: Clicks installed their first integrated public address for their opening stores in 1978 and were quickly followed by the likes of Makro, Dions, OK, Game, Checkers, Joshua Doore, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Incredible Connection  and Woolworths.

By the late 1980’s we had further diversified providing countrywide installations of audio-visual equipment and to date have completed over 300 audio-visual installations for banks countrywide. These have included installations of TV’s, plasma’s and LCD screens in both branches and boardrooms. We have also installed a variety of audio and video conferencing across a variety of environments and locations.

In recent years Health and Safety-compliant Voice Evacuation equipment has become an increasingly important consideration to employers and facilities managers alike. We have installed voice evacuation systems for buildings and facilities of varying sizes and have recently completed systems for both PBMR at Pelindaba Nuclear Power Plant as well as Alexander Forbes.

Clayton Communications are privileged to have installed systems for many of South Africa’s most prolific companies and organisations, including Anglo American, Anglo Gold, AECI, De Beers, Transtel, SABC, Barloworld, Dept of Health, Dept of Labour, Eskom, First National Bank, NECSA, Nedbank, ABSA, Standard Bank, First Rand Bank, Murray and Roberts, South African Airways, South African Breweries, Telkom and most of the major retail stores.
